Good day all. I am new to irv2 so here we go!
Planning on going from Calgary AB to Albuquerque NM via Salt Lake City, Cheyenne WY, Denver CO in a 43 ft class A towing.
Any issues with this route through the mountains in late Sept?

There are two uphill pulls on I-80 between Salt Lake City and Cheyenne ... between SLC and Park City and just east of Laramie.

Crossing the rockies on I-80 is the lowest crossing north of I-40 ... two things to watch for is WIND (WY is notorious for having strong winds) ... and the possibility of an early snow storm (I have been chased out of Cheyenne in mid-October by an approaching heavy snow storm)

Little America serves a really nice breakfast ... they have plenty of parking for your rig ... there are actually two Little Americas ... one at the spot on the map called Little America in western WY and the other is on the west edge of Cheyenne

I recommend AB Camping in Cheyenne if that is one of your overnight stops ... nice place run by even nicer people.

We do the Balloon Fiesta each year from NE WA. If you don't mind getting off the interstate you can save 225 miles. by going from SL to Moab to Cortez, Shiprock, to ALQ. A few hills nothing like Canada. Arches NP is well worth a visit as well as Mesa Verde near Cortez. Hhy 6 out of Spanish Fork is a good road as well as 550. 191 and 491 are mostly 2 lane.
If you are doing the Fiesta, don't forget to stop by the Chase Tower and sign up to crew and say HI.

Watch your timing for travel around Salt Lake City , arrive at rush hour and it's a nightmare. Traffic there makes Calgary look like Hinton.

Thank you all for the advice. We feel it would be more picturesque on this route than through the plains. Although harder on fuel.

I25 from I70 South towards Colorado Springs is under construction. I was informed that there are really long waits - like hours.

I second the wind in WY. Traveled through the state in May 2012. Strong cross winds on interstate 90 caused our awning to unwrap. Had to stop and zip tie the arms to prevent the unwrapping. Also had to duct tape our window awnings to prevent unwrapping. Plan for the cross winds in the West.
