Thanks for the suggestion. I had actually plotted a route void of toll roads. Considered heading down into Ohio and picking up I-70 and heading east from there. Then dropping down into WVA and MD. Found that route to be almost 100 miles longer. So it kinda comes down to paying for fuel, or paying tolls. The toll roads are actually the most direct routes from here.
Not only is the I-79 and I-68 route a bit longer than I-70, it's a lot more hilly. If you use I-70, you will travel on the PA Turnpike from New Stanton to Breezewood. The difference in mileage from I-79/68 would probably pay the toll, or close to it. I-70 has lots of truck stops you could use, PA TP relaxes regulations about overnight stays in service areas if weather is bad. I've stayed overnight inside restaurant on a cot during snow/ice on roadway.
