Not only is the I-79 and I-68 route a bit longer than I-70, it's a lot more hilly. If you use I-70, you will travel on the PA Turnpike from New Stanton to Breezewood. The difference in mileage from I-79/68 would probably pay the toll, or close to it. I-70 has lots of truck stops you could use, PA TP relaxes regulations about overnight stays in service areas if weather is bad. I've stayed overnight inside restaurant on a cot during snow/ice on roadway.
