Page, Utah to Dodge city, Kansas

Looking for advice on the best route. Will be traveling in a 32 ft class A gasser with a toad. Looks like route 98 to 160 to 50 is a scenic drive through the mountains. The question I have is the elevation gains and grades. Also need advice on places to see and camp.
Thanks

That looks like a very interesting route. :-)

I may come up 89 from the Phoenix area and follow that route east.

I have a 30 ft with small toad and would appreciate reports. I have a rule, never follow the same route twice.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Hwy 160 will put you over wolf creek pass, and one more, La Vita pass. Exciting, but doable. Have fun...
We found Dodge city to be "bland". but we were there in the off-season.
Don't forget Mesa Verde nat'l park.

We stayed in Dodge City in the middle of June of last year and stayed at Gun Smoke RV. The park was nice enough but we found the city 'bland' as well. We went to the 'Dawson Gang's' hideout to the south of Dodge...I thought the house and the escape tunnel to the horse barn was pretty interesting...DW's thoughts... not so much.

We plan on taking same route east this May. Suggest taking rt. 163 to Monument Valley if you haven't seen it before. Worth the short trip off US 160.

We just completed a very similar route.
Apache Junction, Monument Valley, Moab, Durango, Dodge City then to Ontario.

Monument Valley stunning. Stayed at Goosenecks State Park, UT (10 dollars, dry camping)
Went up the Moki Dugway pass, and the Valley of the Gods.

One week in Moab left us speechless, with have a jeep. Moab makes me happy. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Dead Horse State Park.
Call ahead for camping vacancies in Moab, there is always something going on every weekend.

On a recommendation from friends of ours took 160 rather than I70.
Wolf Creek Pass (+10,000 ft) and La Veta Pass (+9000 ft) were a crawl for our gas Moho but there was so little traffic there was no problem.
Held a few up on the way down but felt in control.
The views were fantastic and the road had plenty of passing zones.

The rest stops along 160 in Colorado are well laid out and have a 12 hour parking limit.
Did not have the time for Mesa Verde National Park. Our loss.
The private camps along the road did not seem to welcoming.
With spent the night at Lathrow State Park, Walsenbug CO

The rest of the trip to Ontario was pretty tame after that.
