Phoenix Az. to central Iowa

Wife and I will be taking the last 3 weeks of June (2016) to travel to central Iowa to visit family. We will return to Phx. during that time, so a little restricted on time. Looking for suggestions on routes and things to see. This will be our first long trip, so a little excited.

Wow ... there are lots of choices for routes from Phoenix to Des Moines.
  1. Grand Canyon, Page, Monument Valley, Arches National Park, Colorado Rockies, Denver, Lincoln
  2. Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, Old Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Air Force Academy, Eisenhower Library
  3. Tucson, White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Palo Duro Canyon, Oklahoma City Memorial, Harry Truman Presidential Library
These are three of the routes I have taken ... there are many more ... I live in Wisconsin and we winter in southwest AZ ... I have travelled between here and there about 20 times ... I have probably travelled more than 15 different routes ... we still have not seen all the sights between here and there

I would suggest you take one route going and a different one returning ...

What will strike you is what a great country this is .... and all the wonderful things to see and do ...
