Phoenix, AZ to Pueblo, CO

Driving through greater Phoenix area toward Pueblo mod September in Class A pulling a Wrangler. Would you just head up the 17 and turn left at Flagstaff, or take the diagonal route out the 87, etc. to Holbrook then on through ABQ and on to Pueblo. I've traveled the first route in our rig before. The second looks doable. I don't know if weather or what looks like some tight turns up the mountains would be a problem.

Definitely turn right at Flagstaff or you won't get to Pueblo for a long time.

Your second route of 87 to Holbrook would be a very nice drive. We've done it many times with our 40' MH towing the Jeep. You'll have a 'UP' to get to Payson and that's the biggest grade on the route. Many RVers do it all summer long. It's a popular area to get out of the Phoenix heat.

we live in payson and the hwy 87 route is completely doable. there are many, many rv's of every size going up hwy 87 and turning east on hwy 260 every day.
