We will be at Our favorite place, Pismo Coast Village from June 29 til July 6th. Our problem is we want to go to the Bridgeport area next and don't want to come back south to hit 395. (but I will if I hafta) I'm open to all suggestions except Sonora Pass. Got lots of time. Thanks

Mike

I suppose you could go through Yosemite over Tioga Pass down to Lee Vining and hit 395 there. It depends upon how you like the national park road.

Have you considered Hwy 88 from Jackson over the Sierras to Minden NV then 395 South. Jackson Ranceria is a really nice RV park just outside of Jackson and in Minden Carson Valley Inn RV park is also nice. Each provides the opportunity for day trips to a host of natural and man made activities.

Ronnie, 88 does look interesting to me. Much discussion with DW. There may be some gambling in Tahoe also.

Pismo Coast Village is one of our favorites (we have 1 share). If you decide on Hwy 88 Jackson is about 325 miles from Pismo. A couple of days at Jackson Rancheria gives you plenty of time to travel the gold country on Hwy 49. Sutters Creek, Placerville, Auburn one day and Columbia, Plymouth, Sonora, Calaveras the second day. From Minden its about 40 miles to Reno, 25 to South Lake Tahoe, Virginia City is about 20 miles. The drive is all 2 lane but good road. The descent into Minden is probably 5 or 6, but pack brake or gearing down ...no problem. Trip could take a week from Pismo LOL

Once you camp near Bridgeport you'll throw rocks at Pismo Coast Village-but seriously, if you have time like you said Ronnie's route sounds more adventurous and scenic. Otherwise go 101N-46E-99S-58E-14N-395. 46 from Paso Robles to Lost Hills has some idiot drivers on it but otherwise it's a good route which will take you a little south but not much. Good luck, Kel.

Well,
Since we haven't been up the western side of the Sierra's in quite some time we will try hwy. 88. The pass does not look too bad at 8,700ft. I'll let everyone know when I catch the "whopper" Brown trout. 15 pound taken two weeks ago at lower twin. As a 30 year share holder it seems harder and harder to get in to PCV when we want. Most likely it's because it's Me in charge of making reservations in stead of DW. This year I'm determined to use all 45 days and it looks like that will happen. Thanks to all,

Mike

Good luck in using your 45 days. I was right on last year and 3 days over the year before. This year I will not use all of the days. As you have probably notice the number of prime days keeps getting to be more. PCV is the most affordable for non share holders of anything on the coast. Spring and Fall are the best times.
I will be there from Oct 16 until Oct 30...if you are around looke me up.
