Prince George, BC to Prince Rupert, BC to Anchorage, AK area

Would love to do the Alaskan Highway, but we don't really want to subject our Motor home to the beating. I love Highway 16 from Prince George to Prince Rupert, although I'm not sure if my 37' Diesel Pusher with Toad behind will be advisable. My last trip over it was 1968, and memory fails me. I'm thinking of a Ferry Boat Passage from Prince Rupert to somewhere near Anchorage, with or without the motorhome. I'd love to take it, but am not opposed to parking it in Prince Rupert for a while.
Any and all comments and advise are more than welcome.

The ALCAN has changed since 1968, all paved, wide two lane road all the way up. Did not even get a rock chip any where on the motorhome. Drove it up last year without a problem. Checked into ferry and was expensive compared to the cost of driving. get the book Milepost and it tells you everything about the ALCAN, where there are campgrounds, gas, what to see etc.
