Years ago I was a pilot in Skagway. If you went to the store one egg would cost you $1. There were no chickens in Skagway.

Anchorage long ago

I haven't been in Anchorage since the early 80's, but even then there were fine places to eat. The food from The Oriental Gardens and Rabbit Inn was world class. Neither may still be there, but back then, you couldn't find better food anywhere in the lower 48.

nctox..... I somehow missed this post of yours when this thread was active. F St Station!! Still there? That's right behind the Hilton, I used to frequent that place! Early-mid nineties I was flying a lot of trans-pac freight and spent many, many layovers in ANC. Good days!
