Rapid City on Hwy 212 to Billings, Montana
We are in Rapid City, SD and getting ready to head to Billings, Montana. Highway 212 is shorter, but am concerned about driving our 33 ft. 5th wheel and finding places to stop on that highway. Anyone have any information about what it is like on that highway?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I was over part of the route a few years back. We drove past Devil's Tower and hooked back up to 212 at Alzada. 30', 5er at the time. Can't remember any issues, on 14, 24, 112 or 212 that would make me rec-commend not using the route.
Edit: I should add that after the Devils Tower lookout, we didn't stop, so I wasn't looking for pullouts.

It was 3 yrs ago when I used 212 all the way from Spearfish, SD to the Custer-Bighorn Battlefield. It was all good road except the section they had dug up for resurfacing back then. Since it was only 210 miles, I didn't need to worry about any fuel stops. I would use it again if headed in that direction, but fill up before leaving the I90 area.

Stay on the interstate to about mile marker 10 and go north to Belle Fourche. Pick up 212 there and press on to Montana and the interstate south of Billings. There are plenty of places where you can safely pull off but not all are well marked. We've taken that route several times, TT and pickup and MH with toad.

We took that route several years ago and would not do it again. The road is fine but there is NOTHING, did I say nothing? out there. It's shorter but road goes up & down constantly. We had to stop and put in our emergency 5 gal of diesel we carry. Really, no scenery, nothing. It's an extra 50 miles on I 90 but worth staying on it.
