Rapid City to Glacier

Planning a trip to the North west, things looks good until I get to Rapid City, the mapping I us is suggesting Hwy. 212 from Rapid City, SD to Billings. I-90 from street view does not look great, anybody traveled these roads lately, how are the roads. It seems to be 50 miles closer than I-90 but from street view both seem not so good. Thanks

Haven't traveled 212 in awhile, but generally is a very good hi way and probably can tow at the same speeds that you tow on the interstate. As always, summer is always road repair season no matter where you travel. Should be a nice drive as the fields should be green and lush. Be careful of wildlife as SD doesn't try to fence them of the hi ways. Enjoy the trip.

I have driven 212 a few times. They have been in the process of rebuilding it, so you can expect some delays. No a bad ride, if I am not going to Yellowstone on the way out, I take 212. That being said, I would suggest you have a full tank of fuel when you hit 212, some stations are far apart on that route.
