This is a nice drive through the wide open high rolling plains ending up at the Little Big Horn Battle field and I-90. Not much in the way of fuel stops along this route so top off the tank before leaving Belle Fourche. You can stop in Alzada, MT, for a burger at the store. Taking the Huelett Rd, (WY-112), south from the Alzada store will take you through some beautiful scenery down to Hulett, WY and Devil's Tower.

Much of the air space over US-212 from Belle Fourche to I-90 is a training area for Ellsworth AFB so you may be lucky enough to see a B-1 doing low level runs. Very impressive. On WY-112 south of Alzada you will pass a mock SAM missile site used for training.

US-212 in MT crosses the Northern Cheyenne and Crow Indian Reservations.

Nice drive and decent roads.

If your plan is to take 212 to I-90 and then pick up 212 again into Yellowstone, don't do it. You'll be driving on Bear Tooth Pass west of Red Lodge, MT.

To get into Yellowstone from I-90 take either 89 out of Livingston, MT which will take you into the park or 191 out of Bozeman, MT which will take you to West Yellowstone. It depends where you're staying as to which one to take.

See the Road link I gave in my previous post.

A lot of not much out there. It takes you right to Custer's last stand. For the most part it isn't to bad of a road. You do cross the Indian Reservation out there.
