Recommendations Bryce to Yosemite

We will be in Bryce for a few days, then we have 4 days in between to get to Yosemite. We thought of going through Lake Tahoe but can't seem to find any rv parks with room. It is a long drive and while we are not adverse to rest stops, our generator is not working very well. We have an appointment to fix it when we get to Calistoga in a couple of weeks. We could go through Vegas, but were worried about the heat. My husband wants to drive either Bryce to Tahoe or Bryce to Bakersfield in one day. How long will that take? Does anyone have places of interest to stop on either route. In the heat, is one way better than the other. What are your suggestions? Thanks

Bryce to Tahoe is a pretty long jaunt because it's smaller hwy. It is beautiful up there right now. My brother lives there. Head into Incline Village for a day of sightseeing. Vegas has had some hot days lately but seems to be fluctuating. If you do go Vegas to Bakersfield, (which you could do in a day), Peggy Sue's diner in Yermo (before you get to Barstow) is a old retro 'cute' place to stop and eat. There's also The Mad Greek in Baker that's kinda different, and good food. Stop for some Alien Jerky too!
Cut across 58 to Bakersfield. Long drive through the mohave desert but usually quiet. Up over the pass in Tehachapie and you're in Bakersfield. There are several big RV dealers in Bakersfield to.. "just in case".

Thanks so much. Think we are doing the Vegas route. Love the food ideas!

Hey.. one thing.. When heading south on 15 and looking for the 58 west.. there's one offramp a few miles BEFORE the 58 west that says "Old hwy 58". That's NOT it! That road takes you down through town. 58 West is a two lane big exit with big signs.

If you can't make it too Bakersfield, there is a nice Campground at the Tehachapi Airport that has pull through sites at a very decent rate.

If you do make it to Bakersfield, the Orange Grove RV Park is nice place to stay.

I would have to say that with only 4 days travel time your best bet would be to go through Bakersfield its nowhere near as nice as drive as 395 up the eastern Sierras but it will get you there in time.

I don't know whatsize rig you have, but I would suggest taking highway 140 from Merced into Yosemite. It's a little bit easier to navigate than the other routes. Enjoy the trip!

Thanks everyone. We ended up staying in Vegas for two nights. Then drove through Bakersfield to Yosemite. Our generator was not working and our coach got up to 99 inside. Awful. We are working on that problem but that is for another thread.
