On the left you can see the road cut. This is viewed from just past Ellery Lake. Down - down - down, and it is steady for nearly 8 miles.Click image for larger version

Great picture. Reminds me of Independence Pass in Colorado. Rode the Can-Am Spyder into the park today. Coming back to Midpines on 140 I noticed the grade is 8%. Observing other RV's on this stretch, I have an idea of what were looking at although for a much greater distance. FYI - coming west down I-80 on the Donner Pass I used the "Tow Mode" and the rig held steady at 55 all the way down on the 6% grade. I have a feeling we'll be relying on this going down to Lee Vining. Again, I appreciate everyone's advice on this thread.

Sorry, I'm late getting this posted. We had no trouble with any of the tunnels in Yosemite. True we scouted them by motorcycle, but there were no issues with our 12'2" RV. Yes, the tunnels are just over 10' at the curb but the measurement is taken straight up from the curb that includes a narrow sidewalk. Due to the high arch of the tunnel, driving close to the center line posed no problem for us. Just be careful that an oncoming RV is not over the center line as he approaches you. I heard a few stories about side view mirrors being lost in this manner.

Take care,
Chris
