Reno to Colorado Springs

Hello all! My wife and I are planning a 2 week trip from Reno to Colorado Springs in August or September. I am interested in any advice regarding trip route, things to see and places to stay. We like to boondock most of the time but enjoy RV resorts as well. I am particularly interested in the Emigrant trails and anything related to history from the mountain men through the gold rush days. We are towing a lifted jeep behind a 39' motor home.

Central City and Leadville Colorado are historic mining towns.

Moab Utah is a jeep drivers mecca ... Arches, Canyon Land National Parks are nearby.

Thank you Skigramp! We will definitely check out the mining towns. We are going to be close to Moab, I'm thinking it may be abut hot. Also, DW is not so keen on the challenging jeep trails :-(

With the horrible fires going on there may be nothing left when you get there. I don't have a map handy but seems to me we turned off of I 80 just prior to SLC and went over the hills through Price and into CO.

I know, huh! We have a son at Ft Carson, so that is where we are going. Glass half full, we should be able to book in the best RV park
