Rhode Island to Colorado

We may have to head back to Colorado in Sept for an unplanned visit. Hauling 35 ft fifth - just want to get from point A to B. Usually we stay off the I's and avoid big cities!
Your opinions - I70 or I80? Seem to be about same distance and time, but what about traffic and conditions of road (repairs, construction, potholes etc)? Again, usually like to do about 200-250mi a day, but figuring this would be more like 350-400?
Ugh... Thoughts please?

Generally, it doesn't matter. On a 2500 mile trip a few construction areas or a few cities won't make any substantive difference. The real question is where in Colorado you're going.

Makes sense - I think I was obsessing when I thought we'd have to head west! Turns out, crisis averted, we can carry on with plans to meander south - Yay!! Thanks for responding, tho, you're right - gotta remember to sit back and look at the whole pic!
Safe travels to you!

We have always taken Rt 36 from Hannibal out - good roads and much easier drive.

I-70 or I-80 doesn't make much difference. I would not go thru NYC on I-95. We bypass it whenever possible by going on I-84 to I-81 south to connect onto either I-80 or I-70.

Have a safe trip.

Although the OP no longer needs this info, I second Rt 36 - shortest route between Indianapolis and Denver and very relaxing drive. Avoids all cities and tolls on I70. Stay at Stallbaumer's RV Park in Seneca, KS. Very clean, inexpensive, with pull through sites with concrete pads and a short walk to Willows Restaurant. The downtown district of Seneca has a lot to offer also.
