Road trip from Michigan to the Redwoods

Hi,
We are just starting to plan a trip for next summer from Michigan to the Redwoods. Would like to hit Mt. Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Yosemite possibly, Hoover Dam, Lake Tahoe, Vegas. Anyone have any suggestions? I would also if possible like to travel on highways but not through major cities whenever possible. Any tips on roads to take, places to stop at, places to eat whatever would be so helpful in our trip planning. We will be taking along our Harley, so great motorcycle roads would also be helpful. Thanks so much in advance. Also, opinions on best time to go would be great. Forgot, one thing also want to travel Pacific Coast Highway on the motorcycle. Thanks again

How much time do you have for this major trip? You'll have approx. 3,000 mi - one way. Your planned stops have you zigzagging so don't know what you'll want to head for first. It's always best to travel north to south along the Oregon coastline.

I'd suggest to get you started is to get a good poster-size U.S. map and highlight every stop you want to make. Then you can make a route from A to B.

From your profile you have a 37' motorhome. We've been to all your places in our 40' motorhome and prefer to stay off interstates. We also enjoy public campgrounds. In the West, secondary highways are very nice to travel. Hwy 2 across the top is also nice. Order online the 'Mountain Directory for Truckers and RVers' and it will help out a lot. It comes in various formats.

It will be a fantastic trip but a very long one.

Here is our tip for the redwoods.
We stayed at a park somewhere around Redcrest. From there we did a loop called the lost coast. Just a beautiful drive, and came out in a Victorian town called Ferndale. Had dinner there. Just a great day, completely unexpected as the park owners suggested the loop over a out and back to a lighthouse.
For us, it was one of the highlights of that journey.
