Roads from McAllen Texas to Georgetown Texas

Can anybody give me some ideas on road condition or size of roads leaving McAllen Texas to Georgetown Texas

We will be traveling tomorrow, Friday

We were thinking of taking 281 to Three Rivers then 72 to Kennedy then Texas 123 to Sequin then Texas 130 around Austin or from Kennedy taking 80 up to 130 and around Austin to Georgetown.

We have a Georgetown 378 and a Honda CRV toad

We would like to miss San Antonio if we could.

Personally, I try to avoid Austin at all cost, and the toll roads due to the cost...130 is a toll road and they really ding for more than two axles.

We just came down 281 from Burnet to San Antonio. We were at Cedar Breaks COE Park at Georgetown. Take 29 from Burnet to Georgetown.

Thanks
Where is cedar break in Georgetown
We were thinking about staying at berry springs because it looks like it is right off of 35
We will avoid San Antonio and Austin
We don't mind tolls

As you will note on a map, Hwy 281 (I-37) will take you thru the heart of SAT. North 281 construction is a nightmare. I would come up 281/I-37 to Loop 410 on the south side of SAT. East then north on 410 to I-10 east to 130... The SE section of Loop 410 is not nearly as bad as other parts.

Cedar Breaks is west of Georgetown and is a Corp of Engineers park. 50 amp, water but no sewer. Nice quiet place, but usually full on weekends.

Unlike Hal, I will drive a ways to avoid Austin. A recent show on TV listed Austin as the #3 most gridlocked city in the USA. Los Angles was #1.

Here is the link to the 130 Tool Road calculator.
