Root 66 RV Park
So my orignal plan was meteror crater rv park. But looking at it and the map kinda thinking about Root 66 RV Park.
We are only staying over night. pets, 2 kids and us. Would have prefered a pool but mostly what I am looking for is a completly black starry night. I love AZ sky at night.

Any comments one way or another?

Hi brandypup,
I've stayed at Meteor Crater CG. Never stayed at Root 66. From the map, Root 66 looks like a better choice for a dark sky. It all depends on how close the CG is to Holbrook. Town lights can mess up a black sky. Meteor Crater CG would be a great choice if it weren't for the security lights. There is not much there, but what is there is very well lit.

We stayed at Root 66 when we visited the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert...nothing to write home about but fine for a short stopover. We got the site with the tree ...$17.50 per. We were the only ones there and the CG looked like it was on it's last leg. Owners were friendly. This was two summers ago in late August. Oh, and no pool. Bob

We also stopped there overnight about 3 years ago. Ditto the above. Cheap stay for quick stopover. Didn't use bathrooms.
