Route 15 out of NY?

Planning on leaving upstate NY in about a week. Usually head down 81 directly. Does anyone have first hand experience with Rt 15 out of Corning area? Driving a 40' Tiffin Bus with a toad. Thanks!

It was a great road back a 3 or 4 years ago. It was just upgraded to Interstate 99.

Do it all the time from Rochester, pretty good road, no problems. You will hate about 15 miles of the route right out of Williamsport (curvy and lots of hills) but you will be fine.

You'll be fine, do it all the time, we are in Horseheads. When you get to Williamsport, Do Not take the exit to stay on rt 15 over the river. Stay on I-180 and the GPS will recalculate to stay straight another 15 miles or so to rt 80, which will then cross over to rt 15 again and you will miss most of the 2 lanes and hills associated with rt 15 out of Williamsport. If you have GPS set for shortest rt it will try and take you that way through Williamsport all the time. Other that that little jog, it's fairly straightforward and you won't have any problems. Gets a little congested at the rt 81 change near Carlisle, but you would run into that either way you go. Good Luck !

Same here. I don’t do it often any more, as I now travel to other locations like TX instead, and I go far west before dropping south. But it’s a fine ride on 15.
