Route 16 Buffalo to Cody WY....help
After reading countless trip reports of route suggestions and rv park reviews until i can't remember where i was originally searching to get too,, I humbly now  , please ...Can i reasonably expect to traverse the big horn mountains via Hgwy !6 from Buffalo to Worland to Greybull and over to Cody?? I have an Xlite 30 ft 5'er pulled by a Dura max 3500 SRW chevy silverado... I have a bully dog speed brake and the truck is beast.... Some folks say to just go all the way around on 90 to reach West Yellowstone when traveling east to west.....and its "doable" if traveling from west to East.... Has any of you nice people actually done this....was it just not a good idea , dangerous , wasted a day with white knuckles ? Any input would be helpful. I have a few years of pulling experience, my equipment is in excellent mechanical condition. I appreciate all of the replies i hope to get in advance... Thanks

It's a very do-able ride. There are steep climbs and descents but nothing scary at all. We have done it in a 38' gasser and a 41'DP each towing a pickup. Great scenery. Just pay attention.

Took this route a few years ago in a 40' motorhome with toad. No problems at all. 2 lane over the Big Horns with an occasional 3rd lane for passing. Top out at the Powder River Pass elevation 9700'. Some long down grades but not unmanageably steep. The 2 lanes are pretty wide & the pavement is good. You will enjoy the route.

We've also done it and with your vehicle/RV you won't have any problem. It's a beautiful drive.

We did it in our then 2002 Brave motorhome towing our Ford Explorer. No problems at all, just slow but that's how we like it.
Go for it, as stated, beautiful ride.

Good choice. I have done it several times in a pick up pulling snowmobile trailers. Done it in a 38'. V-10 gasser RV and in a 36' DP. RV. Never a problem. Well once has to wait on several elk cows to get out my way. Ha. Beautiful scenery
