We are going to the Grand Canyon the first part of Sep and would like to know the condition of Route 40 thru Oklahoma.

Last time I traveled accross there it took me a couple of years to get everything tightened that shook loose on the route. The road was unbelievably rough.

They've worked on some of it but be prepared for sections that are still pretty rough, especially around OKC and close to the Ark line.

You are sooooo right!! It seemed like a week to get across Oklahoma a few years ago. (We did it in one day, but was exhausted when we got to Ft Smith.) Wind was from the south and when it wasn't pushing us around, the road was bouncing us like a mad basket ball. I believe it was better than 400 miles.

Haven't been across in a couple of years. They were doing quite a bit of work east of OK City at that time. I agree eastern portion was really rough. Hope they have improved it.
