I don't go to Vegas very often, but the last time I went was a year ago and it was not bad at all. There was some construction going on so down to 1 lane in some areas but it was not a big deal. Just another highway through the desert really.

Going across the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge in a car was disappointing because the rails are so high you can't see anything, an RV may be at the right height to get a good view of the dam.

From Phoenix take 60 or 74 (depending where you're starting) to Wickenburg and continue on 93 to Las Vegas. It's all good highway.

What Agaveguy said...

I think there's still a little construction going on between Wikieup and Wickenberg, heading that way in a few weeks myself, but I hear it's not too bad. You're gonna hit I-40 and go left to Kingman, then right on 93 to Vegas should be smooth sailing.

There is some road construction on the 93 (I-515) in the Downtown Vegas area. This is between Eastern and Downtown, this should clear up when you hit the I-15, which you are going to have to take to Mesquite (Northbound) so you'll have to deal with it. It can be a real pain during morning and evening rush hours but I've driven it in the RV a couple of times. Fortunately, it's only a few miles but take care as it can be really congested.

From the NV DOT website:

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is making critical bridge and deck repairs along a one-third-mile-long stretch of northbound U.S. Highway 95, also known as Interstate 515, between the Spaghetti Bowl interchange and Eastern Avenue in downtown Las Vegas through the end of June. Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is the general contractor. Repairs call for a polymer concrete patch and overlay to nearly 50-year-old supporting freeway bridge structures, resulting in the following lane restrictions and ramp closures:

-- A 24-hour, seven-day-a-week northbound U.S. 95 reduction downtown to two lanes between Eastern Avenue and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange until May 26, and from May 31 through June 29. (The highway will reopen for Memorial Day weekend).
