Route 9 between Northampton and Colts illegal, MA

Is anyone familiar with this route? Will be driving 37' with tow and wanted to get a feel for hills, road, etc. Heading to Pow al, VT.

If I'm reading your post correctly you want end up in pownal by going through coltsville ma from Northampton ma.
Take route 9 out of Northampton to Pittsfield ma, in Pittsfield take route 7 to pownal by. All good roads with some moderate hills between Northampton and Pittsfield, very doable and quite scenic.

Thanks, yes that is exactly the route I am looking at. Route 9 out to route 8 north for a short distance and then the connector by the mall to route 7. There appears to be a picnic area where the connector and route 8 meet, might be a good place to stretch and have lunch

There is a bike path entrance when you turn left off of route 8 onto the connector but no place to park an rv with a tow, there is a all parking lot about 100 feet up the road that is usually empty and level. There was a small parking area on the right side of rt. 8 at intersection but I don't know if it is still there.
