Route advice

Retired for a week now and heading out a week today for warmer areas
Plan to go out to Elkhart to get a wee repair done then turn south.
Few stops along the way as now we have time.
Just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on the route.
Looking for any insight you might offer.
Route is:
Elkhart to Muncie, In. US 33/16 to I-69
Muncie to Nashville. I-69
Nashville to Unidilla, Ga. I-40 to Atlanta then I-75 South
Unidilla to Ocala, Fla. I-75
From Ocala to Sebring

The only caution is to watch for Amish buggies and/or farm equipment on US 33. I lived in Elkhart and went to Ball State, so I used to be very familiar with that route between Elkhart and Muncie. There are other ways, but yours is the most direct and easiest.

Consider US31 from Elkhart to Indy, it saves some miles and is mostly a good 4 lane road. The last 15 miles or so into Indy have some traffic lights. There will be less truck traffic on US31 than I-69. I-65, another route to Nashville is going to be heavy truck traffic, still not bad if your goal is to get there fast.
Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Middlebury, IN, our favorite Amish family style restaurant to visit when we make our yearly track through that area.

Are you going to the Sebring HFH build? Answered my own question, probably not since no one has signed up for the 10/21 build!

Your route ignores the OP's desire to go from Elkhart to Muncie. US 31 is fine if leaving from South Bend and you want to bypass Muncie, but it adds miles going from Elkhart to Muncie.

Thanks for your replies.
Not going to HFH build, would certainly consider in future.
Have been concerned about construction on the route, damage from hurricane, and also Mont Eagle.
Have looked at the route on Google Earth and from what I can tell, southbound through Mont Eagle is hilly.
What is the climb like, looks like it might be making the motor work hard.

Alternate rt around ATL

Exit I-75 southbound at Calhoun GA onto GA 53,
then to Rome GA and take US 27 south to LaGrange,
At LaGrange turn left on GA 109, then east 3 miles to interstate 85 northbound (under bridge to right),
then proceed north on I-85 towards ATL about 1/4 mile and enter I-185 southbound to Columbus,
Then at Ft Benning entrance (under bridge) exit on to US 280/GA 520 to Tifton then grab I-75

Speeds are great all 55 to 65, No traffic or major construction, all 4 lane and best of all NO ATLANTA for a nice ride through the country and a few small towns. Pretty much a straight shot right to Florida with good time

Monteagle not bad, do it frequently each way. Just use lower gear up and down. We do it in a gasser towing a car . Easier than many of the climbs and descents out west. Takes about 5 minutes each way.

We are back and forth from GA to Ft Wayne IN a couple of times a year and have come to prefer 75 rather than the 65/24 route from IN south. The grade at the TN/KY border seems easier to us than Monteagle, plus the bypass around Cincinnati to Indy trumps going through both Nashville and Louisville. We have a 36’ gasser with toad. Just our 2 cents.
