We're leaving our home in June in Florida traveling to Michigan. Any suggestions on a route to Bypass Atlanta ?

There is no easy way to bypass Atlanta. There are some back roads to take, but that will add to the trip time most likely. If you hit it at the right time you can blow right through. What is that time? Beats me, it changes every time I go through there.

We've tried Atlanta at all different hours, it was awful every time (and that's in a car).
Now we bypass Atlanta by either going through Georgia or South Carolina - if either is at all possible (we're generally going North/South). My wife and I are to the point of "it's worth an extra 100 miles to avoid Atlanta".

I have found that between 10AM and 2 PM is not too bad (unless there is an accident).

If you are driving on I75, it and the I285 North & NW arcs are the most congested heading out of town from about 3pm to 7pm. Even though there are no difficult turns staying on I75 through downtown, I would recommend taking the west side of I 285 (from I75 to I285 back to I75).

Pack plenty of patience and stay alert for crazy mean drivers.

Go up I-95. No Atlanta traffic on that route!

If you have to go through Atlanta your best bet is on the weekends early morning.

There are ways around Atlanta but only via non interstates. If time isn't a factor, then find a good Georgia map and plot your way, otherwise --- jump into the fray. I have a map in front of me, and was just trying to figure the same thing for a trip end of April between Arkansas and the S. Carolina shore and my travel time is kinda limited.

Easiest way to avoid traffic in Atlanta, or any other major city, is to get there in off peak travel times. Most state DOT will have stats on that. You can also get an app for your tablet that shows live traffic. If you play around with it you'll quickly see the bad times to be there.

A lot of people don't like to drive after dark, but I've found I can avoid most traffic jams by getting there after dark. But that works me and not others.

I always try to hit Atlanta mid-day and in the car I go straight thru town, but since I don't like so many lanes in the RV, and the ease of being in the wrong one, I go the west by-pass (I-285).

Try I10 west to 231 north to I65 north this route takes you through Alabama its a little slower but not that bad. You avoid all the Atlanta traffic and no mountians !!

podschweit's route would be good or you can catch US 82 in Tifton, GA to Montgomery, AL and catch I-65 since you are going to Michigan.

Go through Atlanta numerous times a year, and have found this to be the best strategy.

I agree with I 285 West. If you hit town around 10 am you should be fine. Currently our biggest problem is all the road construction around the new Braves stadium on I 285/ I 75 intersection. Even if you do use I-285 you still have to go though that. But mid morning would be your best bet.

On second thought, avoid Atlanta. If I didn't have to drive in it, I wouldn't.

We picked our Storm up in Bufford GA and had to head home via 285 I think. It wasn't horrible but it was Saturday afternoon. We had arrived by 4 wheeler the night before around 8PM (Friday night) and there was an accident every half mile. Can't imagine what that would have been like in a MH with a toad.

I actually did about three hours through Chicago last September in our Winnie 29' Wasn't that bad, just very slow. I drove around it on the way back through.
