Looking for the best route without doing too much backtracking to the interstate. We'll be pulling a toad, so I don't want to get into much wind-y roads. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be much appreciated.

Not sure where Bedford is but the best route from VA is from I-81 to Harrisonburg and Route 33 west.

You aren't going to be able to avoid mountain roads in WV; after all, it is the Mountain State.

You will LOVE Canaan Valley. Take a portable satellite dish as the CG is HEAVILY wooded.

The restaurant at the resort hotel is outstanding. Try the Sunday brunch.

From Bedford, take 220 south thru Cumberland and on to McCoole, Md where you'll take 135 across SW Maryland until you hit 219, then south on 219 to near Thomas, WV where you get on 32 south into the Canaan Valley State Park/Resort area. Its hard to avoid windy roads in WV once you get off the interstates, but this should be an easy drive as long as you get there before the snow.

Thanks for the info. I just LOVE WV in the fall. We usually go to Stonewall (Briarpoint CG) or near Elkins, but this year decided to try someplace new.
