Route from Thompson, Utah to Gallup, New Mexico??

How is this route?

It is Hwy. 191 South from Thompson, Utah. It then heads East to Hwy. 160 in Colorado which switches to Hwy 491 South to Gallup, NM. where it hits I-40.

I left Moab last fall and drove to Cortez, Co. on the roads, then after 4 days in Cortez, headed south on those routes to I-40........All were great roads.

Batten the hatches and tie the kids to the rails on 160/64 between Teec Nos Pos and Shiprock. Other wise not a bad route. Good food at the Cottonwood Steak House in Bluff, ~ 26 miles S. of Blanding

My route has me getting on Hwy 491 at Montecello and then cutting across Colorado and then down to Cortez on to Gallop.

That is a smoother route, can be a little rough from Cortez to Towaoc. Check the fuel prices at the Casino (sometimes low) Food there is not bad. Stop at the Adobe Mill in Dove Creek for some Anasazi beans
You might not want to miss Mesa Verde NP east of Cortez.
