Route to Arcadia from Keys

We are in Marathon and leaving Sunday to travel to Cross Creek Resort in Arcadia Fl. We came down to the Keys via Hwy 41-Rd 997-US 1 . I don't want to travel Interstate so I was looking at traveling back too Arcadia via US 1--997--and then Hwy 27 all the way to Hwy 70 to Arcadia.
Does anyone have any info they would share with me about this route and the time it would take??

As always you guys are the best and very helpful.

You could also take krome ave in Fl. city,it runs into hwy 27 on the west side of Davey.Hwy 27 has some small towns to go thru but good roads.Krome is only 2 lane from fl. city to Hwy 27.

I think krome ave is 997. It changes back to 27 where they meet up by broward county and it turns 4 lane. Just be patient on 997 and dont worry about the butt heads passing you ; after all it is miami. This route is more sane than the interstate and actually less stress. You will pass the miccosukee casino if you feel like lightening your wallet.

We have taken that route once as we were going to the Key West. The roads are OK, 2 lane, some four lane and many small towns and traffic lights. Should take 6 hrs or so, about the same time as if you go I-75. Major concern at this time of year is all of the "snow birds" who are not familiar with the roads. Had a few who pulled out in front of us giving us some anxious moments!!

We used to go from Bradenton, FL to Key West every year for about 8 yrs while doing Pirates in Paradise. We went on I-75 once and let me tell you once was enough. The route you have planned was the route we took every yr but one and we would rather take that route over any other.

We arrived in Arcadia in approx 5 hours using our planned route of Us 1--997-Hwy 27--70.No problems. There was a lovely litttle park called John Stretch Park that we stopped to use the dump facilty and fix a little lunch about 1/2 way.
I would reccommend this route over I -75 any day.
