Yes. I would stay on 23/74 past Sylva & Dillsboro almost to Whittier and then turn north toward Cherokee on 441. US19 through Maggie Valley is doable and very nice through the valley but then you are rewarded with several miles of climbing the descending switchbacks which are not especially fun in a large vehicle.
