Route to Vogel State Park from Florida

First time poster and a fraidy cat flat lander heading to Vogel State Park up I-75 in November. Campground staff says to come thru Ellijay and Blue Ridge, east to Blairsville and South to VSP. Is this the best route pulling a 34' 5th wheel?
Thanks for your advice.

We live N of ATL and I agree with CG staff directions. That's the route we took to Vogel in AUG.

I-75 N through Atlanta to I-575N to Ellijay, etc. This route is interstate to just north of Canton, then four-lane all the way to Blairsville. The 10 miles or so of two-lane US-19/129 from Blairsville to VSP is not bad.

Do I need to mention avoiding ATL during week day rush hours?

Thank you, thank you! And, nope, no worries on trying to get through Hotlanta at rush hour....been there, done that!

Have you camped at VSP? I've been reading some reviews and a number of them mention that sites are hard to get into, uneven and to bring extra blocks. Any recommendations?

I think it's 4 lane all the way to Blairsville. Not many hills either. Then US 19/US129 south to the park has a little elevation rise but not bad. You will have more trouble getting into your site than anything else, a 33' Fifthwheel will be real difficult to get into most sites.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, we won't travel as quickly as we hoped, but this park is still on our bucket list!

We just stayed at the Georgia Fairgrounds/Campground in Hiawassee. Great place to stay and can handle almost any size rig. Roads are fine getting to Hiawassee and 129 is a 2 lane and not bad. Also for the best BBQ eat at Jim's Smokin Que on 129 before Vogel State Park. Best ribs and pulled pork around, but they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, The ribs are to die for)Send me a rack) please!!

Thank you! We actually have been to the fairgrounds in Hiawassee but that was years ago...and, you've made me hungry. Will add it to our bucket list!
