We are planning our long distance from FL out west and back trip for next summer. Because of work schedules we cannot do it all in one shot. We are planning to get to Reno and leave our MH in storage and then pick it up a few weeks later and continue our trip. Does anyone have any good ideas for RV storage or casinos, hotels, campgrounds with storage where we could leave it and what a going cost might be? Close access to the airport would be a good thing as well.

There is an RV park at the Grand Sierra Resort that might work with you. However, in the next week or so (I'm not sure of this year's dates) the Reno-Sparks area will be teeming with Hot August Nights participants, so I would suggest you make a few phone calls.

Here's the google list - I do not know the rates. Telegraph at the north end of the runway might work.

Note that many of these places are on Virginia St or old US 395 north of town. Most are close to the bus route.

Shamrock RV park is fairly modern and some friends have stayed there and think it OK. Bonanza terrace looks to be a rather large place. EZ Storage has some covered spots.

At least the link has some numbers to call to check things out. Good Luck.

Nicest place in the area is Sparks Marina RV park but management is snotty and they nickle & dime you like crazy. The Grand Sierra (775-789-2147) is a good locale since they will have a shuttle from the airport. The Silver Sage park on Virginia (775-829-1919) is across the street from Peppermill which will have shuttle also. Can't say about the storage joints.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just want to make sure we leave it in a safe place. Don't want to come back a month later and find it vandalized or worse?!

I saw a BIG building two days ago that advertised indoor RV storage available. Let me see if I can figure out what it is called. It seemed to be a big reddish colored building on the south side of I-80.

I can't seem to figure out what it was... BUT...the business seemed to be another type of business that was utilizing the big building for RV storage. Does anyone know what the business is that you can see off of I80 that is in a large reddish building??

Hopefully someone will know. It sounds like a good solution to me for us.

We stayed at the Shamrock RV Park in Reno - about 5 miles north of downtown - last September and they had a storage area that seemed fairly secure to me. Don't know what the storage rates are but the camping rates were reasonable. www.shamrockrv.com

The big building used to have a Spa company in it also I think it was part of the Harrah automobile collection. They do store motor homes now. But -- there is a big storage yard next to the Sparks Marina RV Park. I have talked to several RV'ers who left a unit there, flew somewhere else, and returned to find their unit OK. Along the street next to the marina is some real junk in storage, but the interior is well protected. The Sparks Marina is the nicest RV park in the area -- we've stayed there many times -- and never found the management snotty. It is a little expensive, though, especially during Reno's big event. The next one coming up is a big Motorcycle weekend.

I am in Chattanooga. I know you were asking for places near Reno, but if you stored at a great place we have here, it would be right on the way from Florida. I have a friend with a coach stored at a place here called the RV Park Palace. It is indoor, and he says they offer a ton of great services. He told me when he comes back from a trip, they wash it, dump the tanks, check all his fluid and guages. He had a small something that broke (I can't remember what he told me it was) and they had someone come out there to fix it. He also said the people were really nice and trustworthy. Like I said, I know it's not local, but as good as the place is, I would at least look into dropping it off on the way. I think they have a website.

We've amended our trip to stop and store in SLC instead. We will store for a month then come back and get it and continue our trip. Thanks for all the help. At least we got some recommendations to stay in RNO.
