The George Washington Bridge may be on your route. Be aware that the toll for an RV towing a car is outrageous. $29 with E-Z Pass, $42 cash.

Depending on exactly where you live, 81 to 84 to 90 to 495 to 95 is the best route. If 81 is too far away, take the Jersey pike to the Garden State to the Tappanzee then 84 to 90 to 495 to 95.

Once you cross the border into Maine, you can take a big sigh of relief.

Road Pilot has it right, but with two small additions. If you take the Tappan Zee you will be on 287 - follow 287 to 684 NORTH to 84 and then you are good to go. You can also follow 87 north to 84 and cross the bridge at Newburgh. I think the toll is a little less.
