S. FL to Elkhart

I will be traveling from South Florida to the Elkhart area in early May, in a 45 foot DP. I am considering two routes:

1. I-75 through Cincinnati
2. I-75 to I-65 through Indy, then US-31

The mileages are similar, so I would like opinions on the best route choice based on the quality of the highways, places to sight-see along the way, and good RV parks for a short one or two-night stop.

Any information will be appreciated.

I would avoid I-65 south of Indy, it is a horrible road. If you are going through Cincy then take I-74 to Indy and around to 31 north to Elkhart. Also, when you get off of 465 onto 31 N there is a new road that just opened in Carmel, speed limit is 45 during contruction, DO NOT speed through there, the Carmel police love to stop people on that stretch of road, even at 46 MPH they will tag you.

Hi MRUSA14,
I have done this many times. Consider the I75 to Cincinnati. Then I69 to Northeastern Indiana. Take Route 6 West and your choice of road for the last few miles north to Elkhart.
1. In the Elkhart/Nappanee area there are all things Amish.
2. Just south of Cincinnati at exit 11 on the beltway is the Creation Museum. This is an all day attraction. Find a CG close by. Do not take your coach to the museum.

If you have the time and want many things to do along the way, Consider:
1. I95 to I26 In South Carolina
2. I26 to I40 In Ashville, North Carolina
3. I40 over the Smoky Mountains
4. I81 North to I77 In Wytheville, Virginia
5. I77 through West Virginia
Your choice of roads to Elkhart.

There are many things to do and places to see on this route. Google:
Ashville, North Carolina
Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Beckley, West Virginia

The I-75 is my suggestion. Take I-74 Cincinnati to 465 in Indy around the north side to 31 north. 31 north is really a good road now as it by-passes Kokomo. 31 to 20. East on 20 to 19 then north. Not sure what factory you are going too.

I-65 has construction in Louisville & actually hard on equipment south of Indy !!

Thanks for all the suggestions, keep 'em coming. I'm going to the Entgra factory in Middlebury.

S. FL to Elkhart

Then don't turn on 19. Just stay on 20- will go right thru Middlebury. Have dinner at Essenhaus restaurant in Middlebury.
