Safety Big bend NP to McAllen TX

We will be traveling on US 93 to US 83 from Big Bend (after a week outside of BB) to McAllen passing (and staying in) Del Rio, Eagle Pas and Lerado on the way to McAllen.

How concerned should we be about our safety along the border?

Thanks

What is it that you are concerned about? I really do not see any problems traveling along the border. If your are staying in RV Parks overnight, I would think that would give you a good since of security. As far as the travel on the roads, people travel up and down that area every day. Have not heard of any problems with any bandits. I have not traveled that way in a few years, but the roads where in good shape. I would not put to much worry on your trip, and just enjoy the ride. I know there use to be a few border patrol checks area along my trip several years ago, but no big deal.

Enjoy your trip and just relax.

We stayed at the Broke Mill RV campground. Great people nice place, I felt safe. They were really go to us when we broke down in the driveway. Spent the night there and he put cones around us. It is in Del Reo. Try it out.

It would be rare for any law enforcement to be alone.... even in a city. They usually have partners.

We wouldn't be concerned with the drive. Big Bend is probably one of the safest national parks. We volunteered at Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park in Colorado and you wouldn't believe what goes on there!

Big Bend in beautiful in November with the golden cottonwoods! Enjoy.

No different than worrying about your safety anywhere. Situational Awareness is the key. If it's dark, no others in sight but a group of sketchy folks don't stop. Look at the rv'ers that camped on the beach and were killed recently. No one knows he whole story but they weren't on the border. Things can happen anywhere. Always carry your common sense with you and enjoy life.

You are invited to "carry" in Texas. If you choose, leave your defense at home and you should still be OK.
