There is a KOA in Salt Lake City proper if you wish to be close to downtown. Otherwise, there are a couple of parks in about 15 miles south in Draper. All of the parks in Salk Lake County are going to be OK places to stay but do not offer a lot.

A new park that have not been to may be interesting to you. It will be on the west side of town. http://www.ponyexpressrvresort.com/

Check http://www.campgroundreviews.com/ for some good information.

We have stayed at the Salt Lake City KOA It is a busy CG but very clean and well managed. Probably the closest you can find to downtown.

If your interests take you to the northern end of the SLC area we found Century RV Park in Ogden a nice place. Flying J and Cracker Barrel at same exit off I-15. Nearby is Hill AFB and their great air museum.

In Salt Lake is the KOA, in north Salt Lake next to I215 is Pony Express RV Park, which is a new park less than year old and it looks real nice in passing, in Draper a short 5 minute drive south of salt lake is another rv park Mountain Shadows RV Park.
