San Antonio to Quincy, WA

This forum was a ton of help last year when we took our MH to Cali.

This year we want to visit family in Washington State and to avoid steep grades and narrow, difficult roads by staying on the interstate and out of the mountains as much as we can.

I've plotted 2 different routes on the Good Sam trip planner, one taking us up the eastern side of Colorado, through Wyoming and Montana, the other taking us through New Mexico, Utah, Idaho and into Washington.

We're driving a 30' FR 3 and towing a Fiesta.

We appreciate any advice and suggestions

I live a 100 miles from Quincy. We travel to the Balloon Fiesta in ABQ every year and then to the RGV. We have traveled many routes over the last 12 years.

This is what I have found to be the most direct. I don't feel as though it has any Mountain Passes that are difficult or steep. There are a lot of 2 lane roads (I don't like Interstates.) There is ~ 100 miles of traffic around Salt Lake City, avoid rush hour. The weekend is better.

Mesa Verde, Canyonlands, and Arches Nat. Parks are on the way.

Indeed, that is one of the routes that Good Sam trip planner suggested. It is also a shorter route and could save us a day so, in all likelihood, that is the one we will take. Thank you and hope you enjoy Albuquerque.

I have been on this route also. And many variations on that route, I would take two more days in route unless you have two drivers.

So rgtexan, do we need to add 2 days or 2 drivers as OLYLEN says?

I take a week or more, but I'm in no hurry. Stop and smell the roses. The DW sister lives in Nampa, so we stop there for a while. 3 of our kids are in the Tri-Cities so another stop.
The DW likes the Casino in Towac. Lots to see and do.

So here's my issue, we need to get to Quincy as quickly as possible for a family function and then we can take our time on the way home. I do most of the driving as my dear husband is chronically, although not seriously ill. So I expect most of the driving chores will fall to me. That being said, would you still recommend that route?

PS From where in TX are you? We're outside San Antonio about 30 miles.

Yes it is not a hard drive.
I am in WA now, head south 3rd week of Sept and back north in April.
We winter in Mission TX. Summer in Lincoln Co, WA on lake FDR (Columbia River) above Grand Coulee Dam.

So now we've settled on the route to Washington and it's time to go home. Rather than backtrack, we've decided to visit family in Montana coming from Suquamish, WA Suquamish, WA then Evansville, WY, Garden of the Gods in CO, Santa Rosa, NM and back down into Texas via Ft. Stockton to Del Rio.

Thoughts?

Advice?
