We are going to the Good Sam Rally in Phoenix in March and are going to stick around for a few days after the rally is over. What is the Sedona area like that time of year and what are some things to see and places to camp.

Also, the Phoenix area. We were thinking of maybe seeing an Angles baseball game in Tempe but I don' think they will be having a game in that time frame....any other ideas for the area?

TIA

Sedona should be cool but not to cold. A few RV parks there and some places to boondock also. Stop by the Forest info center just outside of Sedona. Very pretty area.

Love Sedona. Go to Jerome to see the museum and walk the switch back streets: great architecture. See if the Alcantara winery is open. Prescott is also a good day drive. Have fun

March is good for Spring training...regular season usually starts 1st of April. I stay in Camp Verde which is about 25 miles from Sedona at Zane Grey RV park. Clean, affordable, and quiet. 15 or 20 miles to Cottonwood and a few more miles to Jerome. Many historical Native American sites nearby.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park is a good place to stay in the Sedona/Cottonwood/Jerome area. Dead Horse Ranch

There is a great place just south of Sedona called the Blazin' M Ranch and the web site is blazinm.com. Check it out if you like Country music, Western Atmosphere and great food.

Dead Horse is a nice State Park. Blazin M is a lot of fun and is about 1/4 mile from the entrance to Dead Horse. Verde Canyon Rail has a train ride into Sycamore Canyon wilderness area that is supposed to be great. (I'm a local and haven't take it yet, go figure). The train leaves out of Clarkdale, which is about 3 miles from Dead Horse. You are also about 20 miles from Sedona and 5 miles from Jerome.

Tuzigoot Nat'l Monument (clarkdale), Montezuma Castle Nat'l Monument and Montezuma Well (Camp Verde, 20 miles) are Indian ruin sites. Camp Verde also has Fort Verde State Historic Park.

Have a great trip.

Go to Sedona!!!
The red rock scenery in incomparable. I recommend driving up to the airport - it's on a mesa - and take in the scenery.
Try breakfast at the Coffee Pot Restaurant (named after the rock formation just behind it). They serve a zillion types of omelets!!

The Rancho Verde RV Park was an outstanding base camp for our numerous side trips in the are. Way off the major highways and roads it presented a quiet family atmosphere. The owners/managers were gracious hosts at all times.
