Don't know much north of Indianapolis, but south of there:

Brown County Indiana (Nashville IN) a nice little "artist colony" type area. Great place to visit in the fall for the color.

Louisville KY has Churchill Downs and just south in Bardstown, My Old KY Home and the distilleries.

Mammoth Cave NP and other caves in the area.

ALSO: make sure you see this thread.
Avoid I-65 through Louisville

Don't forget to stop at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green and look at the hole that swallered up the Corvettes!

x2 on the Corvette Museum & Mammoth Cave in KY. You'll also pass right by the Jim Beam & Evan Williams bourbon distilleries as well as Bulleit whiskey near Louisville. Prophetstown SP in Lafayette, IN is a nice fhu CG with wide sites to stay in & has a historical farm on site. See pics in my album & my review. Stop in Clarksville (outside of Indianapolis) to see the 2nd largest clock

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Clarksville is across the river from Louisville. No where near Indy.

Oops, I stand corrected. Although, in my defense, I didn't state "how far" outside Indy.

North of Lafayette is Fair Oaks Dairy. Really interesting tour of a huge dairy and hog farm.

If you want to feed the inner man with something other than education, try the Loveless Café several miles off I-40, exit 196 (I think). Warm biscuits with homemade jelly while you study the menu. There's RV parking in the rear.

Do you have
"streets and trips" on your computer?? If so, do the trip from Gary to nashville, and click on "find nearby places" at towns along the way...
