I am planning on taking my family (3 kids from 11 - 15) from Arkansas to Washington, DC this spring. Is there any service that will help me plan places and things to stop at along the way?

If you can, get on the internet and check out the closest campgrounds. I believe there is one in Maryland that has shuttles to DC. I think it is Cherry Hill? Having lived in the Winchester area for 13 years there is Candy Cane park. This will put you an hours drive from DC and it is in the Shenandoah Valley . Close Harper's Ferry and Gettysburg and Manassas battlefields.
If you go in the Spring before school is out the parking is a lot better. Do plan on using the shuttle to see the museums on the Mall. Also it takes you over to Arlington Cemetary. Since the tickets are good for two days you can gloss over the things on the first day and spend more time at things on the second day.

We were there this past October. Most RV parks around the DC are very expensive ($40 and up). We found Prince William Travel Trailer Village in Dumfries, VA for $25 per night with full hookups. Really nice park about 30 miles south of DC on I-95. It's a short distance from the freeway. It's listed in most campground directories. It's 15 miles from the nearest Metro sation. As far as I was concerned, the Metro was the only way to go. Traffic is really bad during rush hour. The one cloest to Dumfries had pleanty of parking. The staff at the RV park was very helpful with directions to attractions in the DC area.
