Snow Birding

We are planning for our first long term stay in the south and am wondering if someone has a checklist or ideas to make sure everything is taken care of at home for the time we are gone. Mail, utilities, taxes? Any suggestions are appreciated from those who this is old hat now!

Last year was our first year snowbirding. We learned a lot!! Last year a friend picked up our mail and sent it on a monthly basis. That was a pain for him and us.
The USPS offers 2 options for mail forwarding if you are in one location for any length of time. We have signed up for regular mail forwarding that will only deliver first class mail. Don't need the junk mail.

All of our bills are paid on line or on automatic deduction from our account. For our taxes, we spoke with the town clerk and all we have to do is call (if we want to or wait for the bill to be forwarded) for the taxes due and mail out a check. We completed our state/federal taxes when we got home. I am assuming we could do this anywhere because we do taxes online as well.

All in all, it went pretty smoothly. If I didn't have a specific bill, I just called and they gave me the amount. But I did arrange everything I could to pay online.

Hope that helps.
