Steamboat to Dallas

I'm favoring 40 to 9 joining 85 thru Pueblo then 87 to Amarillo then 287 to Dallas.
I'd like some advice as to the road conditions.
If it's rough I can just go I70 to I35 which is 100 miles longer but maybe a better drive
We copped a bumpy trip from Rawlins to Craig so don't want to repeat if at all possible
Thanks in advance

287 from amarillo to dallas is not to bad, lots of small towns,
and places to grab a bite
there is a great little mom and pop rv park in vernon

rocking A
is the name, and they are in walking distance to a wally world that has diesel,

last trip from amarillo down they were resurfacing most of the highway, so it should be all done by now
check txdot for current road conditions

northern part has GREAT rest areas, lots of parking and wifi
closer you get to wichita falls they go down hill and are not very clean or large

I'm convinced
I'll track to Colorado Springs today via 40, I70, 87 then 287
Drive to the top of the hill in Colorado Springs and find a suitable campground there tonight
