Sturgis to Yellowstone

Working on plans for a summer trip out west. On the agenda is a visit to Sturgis/Mt Rushmore etc then to Yellowstone. Looking at my road atlas it looks like I should take I-90 west to Buffalo, Montana but I need route suggestions from this point forward to Yellowstone. There are a couple choices but not sure which is best. I have a gas coach pulling a toad and concerned about real steep long grades. Don't mind going a bit out of our way to avoid.

Whats your thoughts on US16 west out of Buffalo to Worland then US16/20 north to Greybull then west on US14/20 into Yellowstone?

Also any campground recommendations for Yellowstone?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would take I-90 west. It is a flat road (after all, your are in a prairie) and it would make towing easy.

From there, I would get on Highway 14 (or 14A) out of Ranchester to Yellowstone.

Of course, there are things to see along the way such as Devil's Tower.

Cool

That's exactly the route I took last summer to Yellowstone, with a stop in Cody. There will be many signs in I-90 stating that you should take that route to Yellowstone. There are some grades, but nothing too bad.

Enjoy...it's a very nice drive

Beautiful country no matter which you go! Cody was great town, be sure to spend some time there. We had a blast.
