SunPass

we will be going from Ohio to Key west (Blue Water Key resort) in late april. do you really save that much by ordering the sun pass in advance vs just having them bill me. It will be the MH and a toad.

thanks in advance

Not sure about how they charge with a MH+toad, but I know that for the car, Sunpass saves $.25 each toll. There should be a site somewhere that will tell you how many toll booths you'll go through, so you can determine if it's "worth it" or not. I know that in a lot of the toll booths, the Sunpass lane is totally separate and allows you to go through at maximum speed, so there's a time savings as well. A lot of the booths operating on Alligator Alley and in the Miami area are electronic, "no stop". They bill you based on your license plate. The Sunpass still saves you the quarter down there as well.

Just stop at the first Publix Supermarket you see in FL and buy the mini-pass. Call Sun Pass or log in and activate it. Read instructions BEFORE you stick it on the windshield as the mini can't be moved.

Why not go on down to NAS Key West and stay a Sigsbee, their RV park. Full hookup sites are $23 a night and by the end of April you should get right into hookups.

Bluewater is great, but not $100 a night more great. Commissary, Exchange, gas station with diesel, marina all right there at Sigsbee and only about a 3 mile bike ride to all the action on Duval St. We just spent our fourth winter there and are at Patrick AFB now moseying home to VA with an ETA of 15 May.

we were going to stay at Sigsbee but did not to take a chance since they do not reservations. so we decided to stay at Bluewater and pay the premium. at least as of 1 april, they go to their lower rates.

Yes the pass is worth it.
We just came back from south FL and the lines on the pay side of the tollbooth were VERY long and we zipped right through. It also saves you on every toll and if they have to bill you they charge extra for the billing in addition to charging full price. Also in S. Fl there are many places where the exit is lo longer manned and no cash is taken. Again they will then bill $$ you if you have no Surpass.
Happy Travel..
