Taking I-20 through Atlanta

Can I -20 be a viable road to get through Atlanta? Will be coming in from the west going east. Thanks

It is the best way I have found to get thru Atlanta. Traffic will be there any time of day and will be running about 10 to 20 above the speed limit most of the time. Just take it easy and if there is no accidents you will be fine. Stay in the middle lane and watch for drivers cutting you off and changing lanes.
Be safe and try to go thru in the middle of the day or early morning or after 6 pm.

After you pass by Six Flags, ease over the the leftmost lane. Traffic WILL bunch up on the right side due to intersection with the west side of 285. Slow down and watch out, even though you are in the inside lane - cars AND trucks will be trying to jump out of the stopped lanes into the inside lane.

After 3-4 miles, you will need to do the same due to the intersection with 75/85 Connector. Once you pass that intersection, you will be mostly in the clear. The east side intersection with 285 is not too bad unless at rush hour.

If you pass through in rush hour, all bets are off. One more think - no matter what time you pass through, be on the lookout for potholes, they tend to be almost everywhere on I-20. Some of the joints between concrete sections can be pretty bumpy too.

Hope this helps.
