Could someone help me with a recommendation on a good campground near Houston and SanAntonio, both on the north side?

In San Antonio both the Blazing Star RV Resort and Admiralty RV Resort a quite nice located in the northwest area of San Antonio by Sea World / Six Flags Over Texas amusement park.

The Westlake RV Resort on the west side of Houston (~4 miles north of I-10) is very nice. On the north side of Houston, is the Northlake RV Resort of off I-45 which is quiet nice. Both the Westlake and Northlake RV Resorts are owned by the same company.

Another good RV resort on the north side of Houston in the Spring, TX area is Rayford Crossing RV Resort. It's not as convenient to I-45 as Northlake RV Resort but is every bit as nice.

All three of these RV resorts charge ~$65 for "deluxe" drive through spots which is a price the wife and I are very willing to pay at RV resorts that have big, roomy concrete pads, lots of amenities, safe surroundings, etc. As we both still have full careers, use of our motorhome is mostly for long-weekend mini-vacations thus the cost per night is very secondary to staying at and enjoying in a very nice RV resort.

Hope this helps!
