Tioga pass

Anybody ever drive up Tioga pass from 395 to Tuolumne Meadows? What a chore. Climbs up to 9000 feet plus. Just did this with 36 foot class A with ford V10 pulling a 4000 pound toad. Made it up ok. Coming back down was scary. Using the gears was pushing to many rpms so I pulled over and disconnected the toad when I started smelling the brakes. By the time I got the rig stopped the brakes were smoking. Beautiful country but this pass is no joke!

We went up through Yosemite with our teardrop trailer camped at Saddlebag lake at 10,000 feet and went down Tioga pass the next morning. The TV was a 01 Subaru with the 3L H6 and I had re done the brakes prior to our trip west, the tear has brakes. The trip down left the Subaru brakes smoking. When ever I hear some one debating as to the necessity of brakes in a teardrop I recount the trip down Tioga pass.
