To Yellowstone from Georgia

I am leaving August 7 going to Rapid City SD to visit my daughter and sightsee in the area then on to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. I have found out there is a good campsite in Buffalo WY but not sure how to best get nearer to Yellowstone to either camp at Yellowstone or nearby. I am concerned about the roads with a 38 ft RV and toad. I also want to visit the Jackson Hole area.

Any suggestions????

I would drop in from the north through Bozeman, MT and stay in West Yellowstone either the KOA which is where we stayed or there's a park called Grizzly RV that is suppose to good. I would tour the park via the toad. When leaving for the Tetons I would go through the park via old faithful and West Thumb then down to Moose and would stay at Gros Venture(sp?) camp ground. It is first come first and has no hookups; however, they do have a dump station and potable water at the entrance. Send me a PM if you would like to discuss specifics on the phone. I will be happy to call you.

We just completed a caravan through Cody, West Yellowstone and Jackson ( Tetons) We did go through Rapid City and visited Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse before heading to Cody. We went through Yellowstone via the east gate to the west gate. We stayed at a park right past the KOA about 8 miles outside West Yellowstone, for the life of me I can't remember the name of the park. After Yellowstone we traveled to Jackson Hole through Yellowstone and out the south gate. We drive a 38' coach towing a GMC Arcadia, and had no problems what so ever. It is definetly a worthwhile trip, very beautiful. Have fun and be safe.
