Top 10 RV Road Trip Apps

In honor of the official start of summer camping season this weekend, I thought I'd share my Top 10 list of mobile apps I find most helpful when making long trips cross-country--

Winnie Views: Top 10 RV Road Trip Apps

I recently did a 2,000-mile trip to migrate from the Southwest to Great Lakes and found these apps the most helpful in my journey, so I hope they might help your next road trip too!

What other apps do you use all the time for your RV travels?

Lynne

That doesn't appear to be a mobile app. Am I missing something?

That looks like a website from like 1999. $39 per year for some ancient interface? Wrong century. Pity rv sites and apps are so out of date. I like the passport america and goodsam apps.

Set your default for the fuel you use, shift to map mode, and you can look all up and down the interstate to quickly compare prices and brands

In addition to many of the ones posted above, we also use:

-Weatherbug, with alert on based upon GPS location
-Spaky, shows lightening strikes and how far away. A subset of Weatherbug.
-Trip advisors city guides - for area points of interest
-US Public Lands
-As mentioned, Allstays
-Signal Check - For cell coverage signal strength
-Compass
-Startracker

-And we shift between Radio Paradise, Pandora and Spotify to augment our Sirus...

-Whenever we have any questions about GPS routings. The DW turns on her iPhone Map Routing Turn by Turn. And then we try to use common sense (Sometimes this fails!) on which one to believe...

(I did not repeat all of the ones from above, we have several, and will check out some of the others shared.)

Best to all, travel safe, have fun,
Smitty

We just completed a 4,700 mi trip from Houston-Wisconsin-Yellowstone-Mt. Rushmore-Denver-Houston with our 37' 5th wheel. For the overall trip plan we used the GoodSam Trip planner. Yes, it is clunky and is lacking some advance features, but the filtering for POI, Campgrounds, Historical sites, etc enroute fit our needs. Also, you need an internet connection, so don't plan on using it while you are moving or in areas were you don't have cell service.

We also used AllStays to double check Campground options/information. For navigation, we used our Garmin RV 660 which was a fantastic tool. I have had about a dozen GPS devices over the past 10 years (auto, handheld, topo) and always come back to Garmin.

Since we prefer to travel via. secondary roads, I double checked the route using the Truckers atlas for low clearances, etc.

Finally, GasBuddy was very helpful and Google Maps.

Safe travels,

Tom
