Anyone have an understanding if it required to reserve the ferry form North Sydney to Channel Port NL. I would like to keep flexibility in our travel plans and not make a reservation.

When we traveled south on the Inter coastal Ferry form Haines AK to Prince Rupert Canada we did not make reservation. When we arrived in Haines we drove to the Ferry and scheduled our Ferry trip. I am hoping we will be able to do the same! Can anyone give feed back on this issue?

We expect to make the Ferry trip to NL on approx. 6/10 and return on 7/20

Ferry reservations on Marine Atlantic are highly recommended. A lot depends on your flexibility and rig length as to availability. Ferries run twice daily from N. Sydney to Port aux Basque - one leaves at 11am, one at 11pm. Be advised ferries operate on NEWFOUNDLAND time, not Nova Scotia time, which is 1/2 hour different. We were able to get our reservation without difficulty about 1 month ahead. Others were NOT able to get the reservation they wanted with even more lead time. But if you are willing to shift a day or 2, or take a night vs a day ferry, you should be able to get something. We did not make our return ferry reservation until we were actually in NFLD for a few days. Again, no issue. Just remember all goods/services going there by truck are on the ferries, so they are busy. These are BIG ships - think cruise ships. Both our crossings were very comfortable - we took day sailings. The Marine Atlantic website is very helpful. ST
