Travel from Keystone, SD to Grants Pass, OR

My friend and I will be traveling from Keystone, SD to Grants Pass, OR during the first week of November 2013. I have an older Class C motorhome and she will be towing a 17ft travel trailer with her Dodge Durango. The two main routes of choice are I-80 and I-90. I-90 is the first choice just because it's a straighter shot, but I'm concerned about the elevations and if my older rig will make it up the hills. My other concern is, of course, the weather. Does it usually snow at this time? Are the roads kept pretty clear? What about ice? I would appreciate input, especially if someone has done this trip before. Do you have any alternate roads that would be better than I-80 and I-90? Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

I 80 across Nevada that time of year could give you all kinds of bad weather, even the passes Reno to Sacramento can be trouble. All depends on storms.
I 90 Missoula to Spokane can be a real pain for the same reasons, high passes and storms. But the Interstates do see major maintenance when storms happen, but can be closed for days at a time if the storms are bad enough.
Because of chain up regulations; I don't have chains for my coach and would be reluctant to use them if I did; I carry food and water for at least 3 days, every trip through the areas. In case I have to stop in a rest area, and wait out the storm and chain up requirements.
No real low county, anywhere on the routes, but you may want to consider , I 80 to Salt Lake City, I-15 North, then I -84 to Portland , then south on I-5
Baker City to Pendleton on this route can be a challenge, there is one of a drop going down to Pendleton but after that your along the river, to Portland and the one pass, Sexton Summit , on I-5, is usually clear by the afternoon any day they have snow in the area.
Easier route than the Siskiyou , Weed CA, & Mt. Shasta areas.
I have the web site for all OR traffic cams. I'll dig it out and post it.

I'll check to make sure these links work.

If there were not snowstorms I would feel comfortable taking 16A north to US 16, then taking US 16 west to SD 89 south to US 18 west to I 25 west to N Poplar/WY 220 to US 287 south to I 80 at Rawlins. I 80 west to US 95 at Winnemucca to NV 140 which turns into OR 140 before Lakeview. OR 140 will take you to I 5 just east of Grants Pass. Some of the State Highways get a little curvy but you just slow down.

If its going to snow then it might not matter much which route you take.
